This site was originally written as a place to store the various tutorials and scripts I created while working on my home server. A few of the tutorials, such as the one for Samba are written for a specific purpose. For the Samba tutorials, I wrote it for setting up a standalone Samba server with authentication using local accounts only.

What’s New?

  • Updated my site to HTML5 and CSS3 from XHTML-strict and CSS 2.1
  • Added support for HTTPS, so you can how access my site via SSL by going to https://charlesa.net, if you so desire.
  • I am also in the process of making sure my tutorials work with Ubuntu 12.04 and CentOS6/Fedora 18.

Scripts

I have also posted some scripts that I have written. The most well known one is the virtualbox startup script I did a few years ago, but I also have a few scripts to purge unused kernels and to mirror directories via robocopy.

Tutorials

I have posted a few tutorials that that explain how to install and configure some of the services I had problems with originally - namely Samba and OpenSSH.
